You might be surprised about your Muslim neighbors. Having lived in Muslim countries, it was a running joke that Allah can't see behind the tall concrete wall (or fence).

During this recent hot spell in the uk I've taken to laying on my sunbed nude under the shade of a tree.
This is private apart from a retired lady teacher who lives alone next door.
I have noticed she spends a lot of time peaking at me from behind the blinds.
I'm not bothered but don't know if I should be horrified or take it as a compliment. Either way I'm not overly bothered

If the neighbors are both profusely and openly naturists, they can get along well and be alright with naturism in certain contexts, in some societies.
And it all depends on what part of the world where you live.
And to the statistics,
about MAXIMUM 1.2 Billion including 15 to 200 Million in India somewhat comefortable or mostly comfortable with nudist culture is what mostly is the statistic told about how many nudists there are in the world.
At a minimum, it usually is about 35 to 80 Million mainstream nudists worldwide at the lowest possible estimates, with roughly 40% percent of Germany's population being nudists or about 28 Million nudists from Germany alone, mostly non-religious or atheist or Christians who are nudists or naturists, with most of the rest coming from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Greenland, European nations, or from South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, or some of the states inside the USA. However, many places in the USA and in some places in Queensland state in Australia are less tolerant of nudism than broader society, usually mostly people that have, over generations, become more hesistant to associating with nudists over time as a society in such locations' rural or urban communities. Most of Mexico varies also. many of the mainstream nudist places also have a lower number or lower quanity of "Card Carrying nudists" than the people usually associated with answering the surveys as being "A Person Self-Reporting To Be Accepting of Nudists in civil society."
This means the actually higher number of "Passive nudists" might be between 35 million nudists and the actually high 1.2 Billion people in socieities where nudism is known about and accepted, just not always constantly practiced by everyone. But it could easily too be low, or as low as 35 Million, if measured by the low number of "Committed Naturists" if we focus on ideological policies in people's minds as neighbors and as members of civil society. It all really depends on the metrics on measuring who is and is not a naturist, but it is no more that 22% of the World Population, as Islam and Christianity are very hugely surging in the African Countries and in Asian Countries and some of the Spanish-Speaking Countries' civil societies.
There is a right-wing tide in South and Central America in nations located to the south of the Mexico's Southern Borders with Guatemala and Belize and El Salvador, especially in El Salvador and Belize. Depends on locality, but especially El Salvador and Bolivia are seeing very huge political shifts to the right-wing there, and the same is occuring in some places inside of some other South American Nations like Peru and Chile and a minority of the Central America nations like in Honduras right now in their reality.
There is also a huge right-wing and anti-american tide, especially in nations in Africa and Asia and Europe with SOVINTERN left-conservative and socialist parties, and inside the For The Freedom Of Nations' parties' home nations.

This puts a damper on the 140 years of clear naturist history since the year 1886 in the modernist phase of the Naturist movement, which originated after the death of Karl Marx and the beginnings of the careers of Emile Armand and Henri Zisly, both in France, and Kurt Barthel in America, some of the early founders of modern Anarchism and the naturism movements after the earlier movements spear-headed by other earlier pioneers of the western naturism trend, like the certain French person who started writing profusely about naturism named Elisee Reclus.

Naturism advocates need to be mindful to make good impressions of the perceptions of naturism. Maher Baba said once, "Everyone has their part to play" about life in general, so it is similar with the impressions we all leave on people trying to be naturists, in interactions with us at the naturist locations and nudist beaches. It is always a good idea to leave a good impression.
