Caught but not sure
I'm very lucky to live with a garden that is almost entirely private. I live close to a large gym but in summer when I use the garden a lot, the hedges are grown enough to shield most of the garden. The neighbours fences have had landscaping fabric to cover the holes that were visible previously, and the part where visitors can see me can easily be covered (although I rarely get visitors unannounced).
However, as I walked down my steps onto the grass, I suddenly noticed a slotted gap I have never seen before and could clearly see the shadow of a neighbour through it!
My neighbours can be observant (often mentioning "we saw you did xyz...") but I wouldn't say nosey. However, one of them was a little awkward talking to me after seeing me this one time, so I can only assume he was looking through but I genuinely don't know for sure. I am not bothered about asking and couldn't care less.
I will eventually cover the gap between the wood layers for their own happiness more than mine. For now, the mystery of "was I caught?" is unsolved! :)
I think I got caught last week.
I was raking up some pears that had been damaged and dropped by squirrels under my pear tree. It was quiet, and I was listening for approaching vehicles so that I could duck behind my camper as they passed by. However, I did not hear my neighbor across the road creeping down their driveway. The husband can't drive due to health reasons, but his wife and daughter drive. I happened to look up and the car was almost to the road. There are several trees between their driveway and my pear tree, so I may have been blocked from their view. As soon as I realized they were there, I ducked behind my camper. I waited until I felt they should be gone and peeped from behind the camper, only to see the car was still sitting at the road. After about a minute or two passed, they pulled out and left the area. This ordeal weighed on my mind for a day or two.
It was at this point that it dawned on me that although I was hiding behind my camper, from my waist down was viewable to them from the angle of their car. I got in my car and drove to their driveway to confirm my idea and realized that although I thought I was hiding, they had a plain view of me from my waist down.
They haven't said anything to me about it, but I am concerned because they usually blow their horn whenever they see me in my yard as they are driving by. I've been out there since this event and they have not acknowledged my presence. I hope I haven't created a problem with them.
