Got a new pair of 4' inseam athletic shorts recently. They are snug but stretchy, so there is little risk of accidental exposure without feeling confining.
When I put my phone or wallet in one of the pockets, it stretches down slightly below the hem.
Back in the 70s and 80s, I liked the look of shorts that were cut to show the bottom of the pockets, but I was never bold enough to wear them.
Interesting this year I was looking for a new pair of shorts as one of the current pairs was worn out and going in M&S that for the first year since I have been having shorts on they had 4" legs so at last better length. These are been kept for best and always warn commando. The old pairs of shorts which are 7" are been used for work.
