Nude Kayaking
Yesterday, I had an amazing adventure! My friend and I took the kayaks on a four and a half hour trip on the stream. Neither of us had done that before and did not know what to expect. Winter storms had knocked down quite a few trees and branches in the stream so much of it was difficult to get through. As soon as was were out of sight of the launch point, we both removed our shorts and paddled nude. What a freeing experience. Coincidentally, we both had the same make and model of kayak. This was the first time I was using mine and my friend had only taken his on short trips. About an hour into the trip, we realized the kayaks were taking water into the hull and creating a difficult imbalance. I had capsize because of the imbalance and lost my shorts somewhere in the stream. No problem for the trip as we did not expect to see anyone. I had dry spare clothes in the car at the destination point. However, I needed to consider how I was going to get from the stream to my car. As it turned out, the water in the hull made it impossible for us to even use the kayaks so we both walked the stream towing the kayaks for the last hour. It was a little unnerving as we could not see the bottom of the stream and would regularly trip over and bump our knees on submerged trees. When I arrived at the destination point, I borrowed my friend's soaking wet towel to wrap around me for the hike to the car where I changed into dry clothes. While it dd not go as planned, it was a fun adventure and I thoroughly enjoyed my nude time on the stream.
Sounds like what could have been a really great day still turned out OK. I would be concerned about the kayaks taking on water. That should not happen unless you are in rough water. Seeing that neither of you used them much if not at all yet, I suspect there was a drain plug somewhere left loose.
Nude kayaking is something that's I've always wanted to do. I too am surprised that both kayaks were taking on water. I have a 13' Necky kayak and have never had that problem even when paddling in water that was a bit rough due to high winds.
My friend used his regularly but only on short trips so water in the hull would not have been a problem. This was the first time I took mine out. Because they both had the same issue, I suspect it was a manufacturing flaw. The drain plugs on both kayaks were secured.
Is that generally south Vero area? On Indian River? Coupke of small islands off the boat launch nude opportunity? We met a couple of years ago at Blind creek . I have kayaks in Nj but not down in Florida yet. Id love to join you at some point, if you'd like some company.
We will have to check out Round Island when you get down here. I used to have an inflatable kayak when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale. I would take it with me on my summer Western / Central NY State trip. There was an area just off Lake Ontario near the unofficial nude beach that I would go to. Paddle a couple miles until I reached the lake, then about a mile on the lakeshore until I reached my spot on the beach. All this was done nude of course
