Spa World Visit
Well the Aug 22 visit did not go as planned. I got into my car to head over to VA and it wouldn't start. Odd because I had driven it Friday evening and had no issues. Turns out the battery was dead. In the pouring down rain, I had to take my wife's car, buy jumper cables and use her car to start mine, then wait at the dealer for them to squeeze me in between appointments for a new battery. Got that done around noon and was not in the mood to drive 1.5 hours to the spa. So.....I went on Monday, Aug 24 instead because I had coupons that were expiring. I have to say it's the most disappointed I've been in Spa World as long as I've been going there. The bubble pool has been down for a couple months. They got it working for a few days, then down again. The sunflower shower is out of order. The 2 jets to the left of the stairs as you enter the bade pool were not working either. Add that to the large circle jet to the right of the stairs that's been out of order for at least 5 years and the "mild pool" by the steam room, it just wasn't a good look for management. Hopefully they turn things around and get at least most things working again. The bade pool itself was a nice 96F but getting warmer when I left at 6 pm. The cold plunge pool was 49F and no one was going in it! Another gripe while I'm at it.....the Saturday crowds are usually talking, laughing, being social and having fun. This Monday crowd all looked like they were at a funeral or something, afraid to look anyone else in the eye. It was a weird vibe so I think I'll stick to visiting on weekends, and deal with the larger crowds. After saying all this, it was still a good day of relaxation. Let's hear your stories and plan the next get together soon.
At least twice, I have written letters, not of complaint, but of encouragement to address some of their issues. King Spa is just down the road and may be taking more and more of their business, although the nude area at SW remains superior. As people are comfortable, consider writing a letter of encouragement and request to address some of these issues. Let them know your positive thoughts about SW and their amenities. You could even send your letter anonymously. Just a thought and suggestion.
I had that same vibe a couple weeks ago on a Saturday. I was a decent size crowd but standoffish. I just didn't enjoy it. Just a bunch of guys lookin sideways at each other without eye contact. Attempts to engage in conversation were met with disinterest.

I was hoping to see you there, as you know, and was sorry you had car problems. I went anyway and confirm that many of the jets in the pool werent working. Nevertheless it was crowded. I didnt see anyone there I knew and mostly kept to myself. I did enjoy a body scrub and sports massage. Ill definitely repeat that. But I dont like the crowds on weekends. Ive been on weekdays and think I like that better. Im planning to go on Wednesday this week before leaving the next day for backpacking near the Grand Canyon.
