It is basic courtesy to have something on when opening your door to a stranger. We have bathrobes in the hallway to ensure that is possible on the way to the door and special search project is not required.

When someone who knows about household nudity or even has participated in social nude time, the door can be opened nude. There were a couple of cases when a friend was expected and it was someone else. No drama, either.

What comes to nudity inside, everyone may choose for themselves. Most I guess follow principle all nude or all dressed with some minor exceptions maybe but there are people who nude no matter which guests they have and there people who prefer to be dressed even with nudie guests if not an "announced" nude social occasion.

Personally, I have no interest to moralize anyone's choices, and different ways can be done in more and less polite manner, too.

I usually try to put something on or at least wrap a towel around to answer a door. The awkward moments are for example when room service opens your hotel room door faster than you can cover up or respond. Been caught out a couple of times that way but mostly they are decent about the whole thing and apologise and wait while you cover up. I dont know how common it is for room service staff to discover nude guests.

i'm nude when i'm at home and unless someone is invited over that's not a nudist I don't dress when I answer the door. solicitors , JW or other religious groups ,utility companies I stay nude but I use the door as my cover and no doubt if they look close they may see skin just a side view . the exception and no doubt from the side view they have to know i'm nude but some want to hand me a business card, brochure or pamphlet which requires me to open the screen door and expose myself . I had a neighbor who would bring over my mail occasionally saying my mail ended up in her mailbox and of course opening the screen door she saw me nude but later confessed seeing me out back sunbathing nude .

We try to ensure we are dressed whenever we have visitors. We've instructed our family and select friends that we are usually nude and they should contact us prior to dropping by. Val has been nude in our bedroom with the door open when our adult son dropped in for a visit. To say he was shocked to see her is an understatement! He hollered out that he had been scared for life. While laughing, Val responded that now he knows what a real woman looks like.

I accidentally opened my door nude once when a neighbor showed up unexpectedly. I was nude as usual and had been in my garage as it does not open up towards the road. My garage door was open and I had gone inside the house for something. I did not hear a vehicle in my driveway so I bebopped back to the garage and as I opened the door from my den to the garage and took a step, I was surprised as my female neighbor was standing about 3 feet from me. I was wearing some Crocs and cock rings. Both of us froze for a few seconds and I backed into my den and peeped around the door. I told her to give me a minute and went to don a pair of my short shorts. I returned to my garage shirtless, apologized for the encounter and had a conversation with her. She said it was no problem and proceeded to tell me the reason for her visit. Ironically, this same lady had stopped by about 2 years earlier to inquire about purchasing a car in my yard and caught me naked. I don't recall exactly what I had been doing in the yard, but I was naked and my truck was keeping me from being seen from the road. I noticed her car slow down and pull in my driveway but I did not recognize it and assumed that someone was just turning around. I was shocked as the car proceeded to come in my direction. She got out of her car, introduced herself, and began to inquire about the car. After a few minutes of talking, she began to walk in my direction and I realized she was going to come around the back of my truck and be able to view my whole body instead of just mid-chest and up. At that point I had to confess my nudity. As she was walking, I told her she may need to stop where she was unless she was okay with human nudity. She asked if I was naked and I told her yes. She said I'll stay right here. I'm good right here! LOL
