Camping Opportunities in July
Return to DiscussionsI posted this in a conversation with Bonnie and Clyde. I think it may be useful to other Newbies in Wisconsin.
Bonnie,
Cedar Hills sounds great. So that is July 11th and 12? I will see if we can get there also.
If I don't make it, please post a review under "Location" for Cedar Hills. Especially note if the tent camping trail to the valley has been mowed and cleared. It was not when I visited in the Spring.
We visited Wyalusing State Park in the spring. Occupancy was low. The Green Cloud area was unused. I found a sunny spot there on the ridge overlooking the Mississippi.
Now, with high occupancy, things may have changed. I would look at the old closed road between the boat landing and North road area. It is an easy walk with lots of privacy. Not much sun though.
Take a canoe out on the Mississippi and Wisconsin River. Sand bars and sand islands are excellent clothing free areas. They may get crowed on holiday weekends.
We visited Kohler Andrae on Lake Michigan. It was late spring. Occupancy was low during the week. The North Beach is less used. There is a hollow formed in the dunes there at the North border. There were no footprints in the sand. I spent an hour sunning there.
We visited Governor Thompson State Park in North Eastern Wisconsin. I did not find a suitable spot there. Mostly it was because of the insects everywhere and lots of families in the campgrounds.
I am looking forward to exploring Oakwood Club just North of Minneapolis

and Camp NCN in Western Wisconsin.
