Getting there without a car

Most beach recommendations I read assume you've driven. I haven't got a car and never will have, so everywhere I go is by train and bike.

St Osyth looks like the obvious one for me from Essex. Has anyone done it that way? Clacton station and then ride, I assume, but I don't know what the road is like or where you leave a bike at the other end.

Same question for anywhere else in the south east. Interested in what's actually reachable on public transport rather than what's good if you can park.
